Many years ago, my father and I became interested in genealogy. Since that time, we both spent a lot of time and energy researching our family history. Along the way, we met many obstacles or “brick walls” in our research. One of those brick walls was our ancestor John Kelly. At one point, my father began to believe that John Kelly had a brother named Patrick. This was surmized based upon the fact that a Patrick Kelly enlisted (for the Union, Civil War) in the same company and regiment as John Kelly had done only a few days earlier. We both worked for years trying to find concrete evidence of a relationship between these two people, but we never did find any.
Sadly, my father has recently passed away. However, I am filled with a sense of peace because he was surrounded by his wonderful and loving wife, children, grandchildren and other family members during his last days. He was happy and comforted by our presence and we were blessed to have been there with him.
And I am joyful that he continues his interest in genealogy! Perhaps our ancestors have now related information to him that we had previously not discovered?
My father clearly states in this DR-60 EVP recording, “This is DAD!….It’s your DAD!….Patrick isn’t any brother!”
Thank you, Dad. You are truly AMAZING! Love you!
